Can you tell us a little about you?

Well I am a small Chinese woman with black eyes&hair who has a curvy body instead of a skinny build, basically the opposite side of what the model industry is looking for. 

 

Born and raised in mainland China I can be quite traditional deep in my mind, but since I started to travel around the world at very young age, I am very influenced by other cultures, that's why sometime it's very difficult for me to define myself, so I'd rather consider myself a kiwi-banana: yellow outside and colorful inside. 

 

In terms of personality I am a typical Libra mixed Virgo who dreams a lot, have plenty strange ideas and am definitely not one of the most reasonable or practical humans. 

 

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?

Nothing really.

 

How did you start modeling?

Well at first I was not interested by modeling what-so-ever, but in university I met my best friend who loves it. She would always drag me to the unfinished playground filled with dry dead grass (pretty scary right?) and ask me to take pics of her posing, and in return she took also some snaps of me.

I went also with her to some photoshoot events organized by hobby photographers, and slowly gathered a few decent photos.  Then a friend of mine quit his job for studying photography in art school, naturally I became his 'homework' model.

So thanks to those guys who literally brought me on this path <3

 

What do you think of the work as a model?

It's a mix of pain and joy. I mean it's a curl industry everybody knows, there're many different types/level of models, from tiny people like me to super celebrity models, we are all searching for getting higher, in the end many people get lost and become the ones who change themselves to please others.

But I do have many wonderful experience working with many amazing people, and the moment you see a great image where you take part in, its worth everything. So I am still grateful for this job and all those precious people who have given me chance to create nice works with them. 

 

What is your beauty regimen?

Eat healthy, do sports, love the people who loves you, and get a cat.

 

What are your personal qualities ?

Honest, I normally don't tell lies unless they're harmless white lies. So if people need real opinions they can trust me. Real, I don't have 2 faces and it's hard for me to pretend to be someone I am not, so this one you see here is real me.  Simple, I grow up with boys so guess I am more straightforward than most girls. I want no complexity in my life, too much for me to handle. 

 

Which distinguish you from others?

Everyone is unique, they way you are distinguish you from others :) 

 

What are your plans for the future?

Would love to keep traveling and modeling and see how far can I go.  Also will be pretty cool to have our own photo studio !

 

What are some of your favorite experiences so far?

That one incredible photoshoot with a secret photographer (who is actually someone important).  He brought me to Bruges all the way from Lyon. and I had the chance to stayed in one of the most fancy hotels. Also thanks for the whole story I met my soon-to-be-husband. Every time I think about it, I find how unbelievable the destiny is.

 

Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling?

You have to love photography for doing this job. Have seen so many girls who want to model just for money, or showing off themselves. Some ask for getting paid while having very poor experience. This will only lead them to the wrong road and wrong person and can actually be dangerous. 

 

Be patient, when you start, it's important to be humble, work hard and gain experience little by little, as it's not all of sudden you can be skilled, like any other jobs, you progress with time and practice. 

 

Always be professional and respectful. World of photography is very small, and words spread quickly, it's important to keep a good reputation or things can get messy. 

 

What do you think of the magazine?

It's indeed a great platform for models and photographers to share they work. And it has a great potential, will watch it grow with all my good wishes!
