Interviews / Stories
Koc & Stefanowski
Tell us something about yourself?
We are photography duo. Two brothers sharing this same passion with, sometimes, different way of looking. We are from center of Poland, Lodz and here we are looking many of our inspirations.
How and when did you get into photography?
We got interested photography for many years, however we fully committed to this since one year. Animal photography and street reportage was our start point but with time we decided that fashion and artistic photography is something what we feel.
What does photography mean to you?
This is our way living, spending time and way how we look at the world. With time you look at everything as a possible photography, possible shoot. Constant search for light, situations and emotions.
Describe your style?
We are still looking for our own road. Of course, we already developed in our heads some ideas about what we want to create but honestly, we are looking for our own way all the time.
Think you in advance what you want in the picture?
Sure. Always we first think about what we want to create – general idea. Later we add to this some details, as place, what face or what mood. However when you work with other people very often you get influence from they mood, situation or even music which we listen during the session. That’s why every idea can change during session

Studio or location?
Both. Different technics and different use.
Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?
Why not both? If you get paid you cannot do this as your hobby? In our opinion you can be a professional and still hobbyist.
What has been your biggest source of inspiration?
Other photographers? Don’t know to be honest. Almost everything comes from our discussions which are based probably some different inspirations.
Nikon or Cannon?
Favorite lens? Why not Sony? Emotikon wink Kidding… Nikon. Why? Simply it feels better in our hand. This is only a tool which needs some experience, knowledge and lots, lots of work.
What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their bussines?
Simply start making photos. Often and a lot. Find what is interesting for you. Landscapes, macro, fashion, people… Everything is good subject, and for every you can find your own way.
