Interview: Make-up artist Honorata Harasimiuk (Poland)

Can you tell us a little about you?

Hi everyone! I'm Honorata but you can call me Hondi. I'm self taught makeup artist from Poland. My biggest love is artistic and sfx makeups. I hope someday I will work for Hollywood. Why not to dream big?

How long have you been a make-up artist and how did you get your start?

Since I remember I was always passionate about makeup. I've started working as a makeup artist 3 years ago and from then I knew that this job is perfect for me.  My first model was my roommate Beata and she was encouraging me to start my own business so with a little bit of help from my close friends and family I've started to work as a mua.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

My inspirations are everywhere. Runways, movies, nature but specially street fashion and makeup. There so many different people on this planet and every each of has uniqe style. For me makeup is an art and the way of express myself. I love creating new things.

And when I have bad day I take my makeup brushes and its the best antidepressant ever.

What are some of your makeup products that you use?

For me, the most important tools are brushes. Without them I can't imagine doing my work. If its about makeup products I have mix of brands. I like to try new ones and there is always something new on the market so my makeup kit is still growing.

Any makeup tips you'd like to share with us?

Less is more. For me makeup is to enhance someone's beauty. And don't forget that makeup is an art and you can mix all the colours, etc lipsticks so you don't have to pay extra money for every shade.

Who have you worked for and who would you like to work for in the future?

I'm working for Orange Model Agency from Warsaw. Me and my favourite photographer Gabrysia Szczypa we are working on photoshoots with models and we had a  publication in polish magazine HIRO. I'm working for makeover projects too which I specially enjoy cause I can see the real transformations. Soon I'm planning to  run workshops from stage makeup. And of course I have my lovely clients where some of them became my close friends now. Speaking of my future plans, It's definietly a Vogue magazine, movies and TV shows. Like someone said “ Dream big or go home”.

If you were not a makeup artist, what would be your dream job?

I would propably working as a flight attendant cause my second love after makeup is travelling. But hopefully I can fulfill my dream as a mua and keep developing my skills.

What are three things every girl needs in her makeup bag?

It's definietly will be mascara, lipstick and foundation working good with yor skin. I cannot imagine good makeup without emphasizing the eye. You can easily achieve this with quality mascara. And speaking of skin, its important to have matching foundation or BB cream so your face look flawless.

What are common mistakes you've see women make on their makeup?

There is plenty of makeup mistakes which I see everyday. The most common mistake is too dark foundation, not matching with skin shade. Another one is strong eyebrows which gives the face angry look. I see that some of girls struggling  with putting matte lipstick. I recommend using lip brush so your lips can look amazing with no extra work.

What do you think of the magazine?

I love the idea of giving opportunity for us, artists. It's amazing that we can admire great talents and meet people from our eviroment. Hopefully we can work together in the future. Thank you so much Peter for this interview!
