Interview: Model Elisabeth Tjen-A-Tak (Netherlands)
Interviews / Stories
Can you tell us a little about you?
My name is Elisabeth Tjen-A-Tak, but everybody calls me Eline. Or basically whatever they think suits me, I react to all of it. I’m 19 Summers young and currently living in Amsterdam. I am a big fan of music, make-up and apparel and in love with my three cats.
If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?
I’m not saying I’m perfect, but I’d say nothing. If I would think about things like these I think I’d go crazy, since there’s not much to do about it, talking about my appearance that is. If I had to change anything about the way I am on the inside I’d say my love for being lazy shouldn’t be as great as it is currently, haha.
How did you start modeling?
In the beginning of this year two photographers randomly asked me if I wanted to shoot sometime. Two weeks later I went across country to shoot and as soon as those photos went online I got offers from photographers left and right. Ever since it’s only been going uphill for me, and at a pretty fast pace too.
What do you think of working as a model?
I like it a lot! In fact, I love it! People – especially my mom – always told me that I was very pretty and photogenic and that I should be doing more with that, but since I’m not considered tall enough when it comes to this ‘’world’’ I always just left it at that. Ever since I did start modeling though I fell in love with it! I, honestly, wouldn’t trade it for the world.
What’s your beauty regimen?
ALWAYS clean your face! Twice a day and preferably with a special facial cleanser, not regular soap or showergel. I use a micellar water, a tonic and after that a moisturizer. I also use a mild facial peel before every photoshoot and between that three times a week at most. I never dip my fingers directly into my moisturizer pot, as that can transfer a lot of bacteria! Use a cotton swab or woodstick to take some out before putting it on your hands to distribute the product.
What are your plans for the future?
I take it day by day… I feel like the plans I already had made – long-term – had crumbled into pieces because of something I did or something externally even, and with some big events occurring in the last couple of years I taught myself to have hopes and goals, but to only set them in stone when I’ve achieved them.
What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others?
I don’t really care what other people think about me, I’m just really myself. I pull out my crazy faces a lot and I do my crazy dances. I hear it a lot that I carry around some type of aura around me, which just radiates of fun and happiness, and that’s exactly the way I would like to come across. Just being a really warm and open person, also being very spiritually connected to myself and the people around me, has such a big influence on the people I come across daily, as does your mood when it’s bad. I try to avoid the bad moods and just keep it at the warm and good vibes.
What are some of your favorite experiences so far?
There’s nothing that stands out to me thusfar, other than all the fun I’ve had with all the people I’ve worked with, the awesome people I’ve met and the happiness that runs through me when I get beautiful results in the end.
Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling?
To not be shy! If you’re considering it: just go for it! Don’t hesitate. Do what makes you happy, you’ll be that much more happier for it! – ‘’One should not regret the things they have done, but the things they have not.’’
What do you think of the magazine?
I think it’s a great initiative! A cool way for people in this business to meet and connect and also for starting models to introduce themselves. I really like it! Keep it up.
