Interview: Model Frederikke Gustavsen (Denmark)

Can you tell us a little about you?

My name is Frederikke Gustavsen and I am 23 years old. I live in Copenhagen and I am a Law student at Copenhagen University. Furthermore I work as a Student at the Labour Market Insurance. I have been modeling the past five years, but the last three years it has accelerated.

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?

I would not change anything. I have learned to love and live with myself and how I look, as I got older. I think it is our natural self that makes us special.

How did you start modeling?

I never got scouted or something, it was my own choice. I started to participate in model competitions and then I slowly did some photo shoots to build up a portfolio. I got better and in that way I got a lot of experience. Now I have a big Network and I just got into the Danish Model Agency Modelbooking.com, but it also took some time to get here where I am today.

What do you think of the work as a model?

I love it and I am having fun when doing it, otherwise I would not do it. The Model business is very tough and I have felt it and been exposed to what it can do to you. But if it were easy and not challenging at all it would have been boring.

What is your beauty regimen?

I don’t have a specific beauty regimen, but I love to workout in the gym and in that way taking care of my body. I have been an active person since I was little so it comes natural to me and therefore it is not hard for me. I also try to eat what is right according to myself, but at the same time I still eat what I want. Because if there is something I have learned it is that you must do what makes you happy.

What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others?

When you really get to know me I am not just a pretty girl. I have humour and I am weird in a good way. Sometimes I think I am a little crazy too. To cap it all I have a tattoo on my right arm and marked collarbones.

What are your plans for the future?

You never know what is going to happen in the future. But I hope that I will be signing with other Agencies here in Europe and get more jobs.

What are some of your favourite experiences so far?

I have many, but the best experiences are when I walked at Copenhagen Fashion Week. I have been doing that in three years know and I love it every time. Every time it reminds me why I am doing this. I love the atmosphere and the stress during the show backstage. But most of all I like the Rush when walking at the runway. The Adrenalin is at its highest. That is just the best feeling ever.

Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling?

Just do it. Nothing should stop you. You will experience adversity and maybe fail a couple of times. I did too. But it will make you stronger and you will learn from it. In the end you can achieve what you want if you want it enough. Don’t let anything stop you from achieving your goal.

What do you think of the magazine?

A photographer and a good friend of mine did an interview for Modellenland Magazine and that was how I discovered the Magazine. I think it is a good way for people to show their work and get inspired by one another.
