Interview: Model Therese Isaksson (Sweden)

Can you tell us a little about you?

I`m 22 years old, from Stockholm but now I´m living in the north of Sweden. I´m a law student on my fourth semester and I love it! Other things I love are coffee, wine, the band Kent and everything that includes tomatoes.

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?

I would really use a better sense of balance, I´m kind of clumsy sometimes. One time I even lied before a runway show and said I had problems with my knees so they would put me in lower heels. Just because I was so afraid of falling!

How did you start modeling?

An agency approached me at the cinema when I was 14 years old, terrified I agreed to a meeting with them.

What do you think of the work as a model?

Getting into modeling really improved my self-confidence and I think I have a lot to thank the industry for in that way. I was pretty shy at fourteen and standing in front of a camera forced me to be more open and social.

What is your beauty regimen?

Here I´m no role model… I never exercise and I love pasta. I wash my face with hand soap which I don´t see any problems with, but apparently it isn´t that good for your skin. But it works for me, so I´m happy!

What are your personal qualities that distinguish you from others?

I have never seen modeling as a job, more as a hobby I did because I thought it was fun. Not taking it to seriously have made it possible for me to always have fun during the photo-shoots and have a relaxed attitude towards the whole industry that sometimes seems a bit shallow.

What are your plans for the future?

Well right now to survive this semester! I´m going to read about taxes, I fall asleep just thinking about it. But then of course to take my law degree, and maybe spend a semester abroad I´ve been traveling way to little since I started studying.

What are some of your favorite experiences so far?

It must have been when I saw myself in an ad I did for Frank Dandy. It was this gigantic photo above an escalator, it covered a whole wall! And seeing myself was just this overwhelming, crazy feeling that I will never forget.

Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling?

Sounds cheesy but always be yourself. The photographer will have an idea of how the photo-shoot should turn out but you should never do anything that you´re not comfortable with. And only work with serious photographers! Just google them will tell you a lot.

What do you think of the magazine?

I really like it and I´m grateful for being asked to contribute to it. I think it is a great way to inspire people.
