Interview: Photographer Albert Finch (Poland)

Tell us something about yourself
I was born in 1980 in Poland, so as a child I witnessed great political and cultural changes in my country.
My first teacher was my own father - in my opinion - a man gifted in almost every field of art. He introduced me to photography. Not only to photography.

How and when did you get into photography?
When i was young boy my father gave me old russian camera. Many years later i bought my own camera and started making pictures of my girlfriend. Just for pleasure. I had no plan to become real photographer.  About 4 years ago i made hudge step and started to show my pictures to people.

What does photography mean to you?
Its... way of life now .
Photography is the science, art, application and practice of creating durable images by recording light or other electromagnetic radiation, either electronically by means of an image sensor, or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film.)

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.
I make mostly sensual and emotional nudity of woman.

Where do you get inspiration from?
Woman.

Think you in advance what you want in the picture?
Usually i make spontaneous pictures. Place, person and relation creates mood which should be visible in effect.

Studio, on location or both?
I really preffer natural locations. Apartments, rooms, bedrooms, sometimes nature.

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?
I’m an hobbyist, amateur.. who makes paid sessions also.

What has been your most memorable session and why?
I’m still waiting for such session. So far i made many interesting shootings which were also impresive meetings with interesting models.

What has been the biggest source of inspiration in your work?
Emotions. Delicacy of woman touch. I look at them and that is my inspiration.

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?
I use Nikon digital camera only as lightmeter. Normally i shoot using Pentax67 film camera or different 6x6 square format cameras. Sometimes i use small frame Nikon film camera.
My favourite lens is 105mm 2.4 Pentax lens. Generally i like 80mm-105mm for medium format and 50mm bright lenses for small frame.

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business?
I’m interested in photography, not in business. I can recommend constant work based on fascination.

What do you think of our new magazine?
I wish you many success
