Interview: Photographer Charis Evagorou (Cyprus)

Tell us something about yourself

My name is Charis Evagorou born and raised in Limassol, Cyprus.
I studied art and fashion photography because that was the kind of work that intrigued me into photography to begin with.
The last 5 years I own a studio in Limassol where I try through my work to improve my skills and make my dreams come true.
I have collaborated with designers and magazines from all around Europe, the range of my work can take me anywhere around the globe.

How and when did you get into photography?
Alright ... i first got into photography as a teenager when my father brought me a zenit film camera. I was then introduced to the art of photography and became my passion that led me where I am now.

What does photography mean to you?

Photography for me is the extension of my soul, understanding of light and to capture moments and feelings.

Where do you get inspiration from?

Mainly i am inspired by music and light.

Think you in advance what you want in the picture?

Most of the times I have something in mind that changes as soon as I get to the place I will shoot.

Studio, on location or both?

Both i guess with location being a better choice if it is something magnificent.

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?

Im a paid proffesional.

What has been your most memorable session and why?

I would say the campaign i collaborated with a famous designer and my work was published in Elle Magazin London. That was my first publishing.

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?

Nikon for sure .. My favorite lens is 14-24mm.

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business?

To be creative, be patient, never give up and always practice.
