Interview: Photographer Charlotte Brasseau (France)

Tell us something about yourself

Hi! My name is Charlotte, I’m 24 and I’m Game Master and Photographer, I live near Annecy (France)

How and when did you get into photography?

I've always had this passion in me, but it's been 4 years now that I have my own camera.

What does photography mean to you?

For me? It is quite funny as a question, for me photography is a thing that you live, like an adventure. It represents the blood that flows in the veins and makes the human heart beat. Every time I go out, I see the world as if I was the camera.

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.

I would say abstract, I was told once that my work resemble of Magritte’s. I'm happy about that. But a word I was told today is “sparkling”. I thought it was funny J

Where do you get inspiration from?

In my own mind (imagination) but in 99% of the time I surf on facebook, pinterest and instagram. It’s mostly something that I think about at night. When I wake up, during the day… I say "Well, I will do that"

Think you in advance what you want in the picture?

When I visualize what I have in mind I know that it will not be the same unless I have everything I need at hand. Often I adapt at the moment.

Studio, on location or both?

Outdoor ;)

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?

Both.

What has been your most memorable session and why?

My most memorable session is with my friend Matilda (Dame Nymphalis), I was going in Italy to take One photography and when we returned in France the brakes of my car let us down in Chamonix Mont-Blanc… Today, it makes me laugh…

What has been the biggest source of inspiration in your work?

My Imagination is biggest… I’m like the Tardis… Bigger inside…

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?

I’m Yellow ! I have a Nikon D7100 and my favorite lens is my sweet 20mm f1.8

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business?

Just do it. You’ll see, it’s hard but funny ;)

What do you think of our new magazine?

I love it ! I discovered this magazine a few years ago but recently I saw my friend Zoé Roulon in it, so I thought why not me too.
