Interview: Photographer Jakob Boie (Denmark)
Tell us something about yourself
I am Jakob Boie, a danish freelance photographer. Im married and we have a beautiful daughter who is 5 years old.
How and when did you get into photography?
I bought my first DSLR when my wife god pregnant. That was also my first time owning a camera. I started shooting models and portraits in 2011, and in may 2015 I started up as a fulltime photographer
What does photography mean to you?
Photography is my own personal getaway. I enjoy capturing moments and the people behind. Its my creative universe.
Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers
I have a sort of documentary style. I like to show the wedding og event the way it was – thats the same thing shooting portraits, I want to show the person im shooting.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
I find inspiration in other photographers and their ability to shoot honest pictures letting them be present in the moment.
Think you in advance what you want in the picture
Most of the times I do – but the path to reach that goal can be very different depending on the couple and the location
Studio, on location or both?
For my wedding photography im always shooting on location. For portraits it depends on the situation. I prefer the thing that makes the most sense in that moment
Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?
I get paid for most of my work – except from personal projects. But still its my hobby and I always have passion in my work. So a mix of both – a paid and professional hobbyist
What han been your most memorable session and why?
A few years ago i shot a portrait of a woman being treated for breast cancer – she was, and still is, an amazing inspiration on how to look at life and its opportunities. I also shot a portrait of a young man with cancer, who didn’t make it – its a very close second, or maybe a joint winner.
What has been the biggest source of inspiration in your work?
One of many is Mark Trustrup – a fellow dane. He was the photographer at my own wedding and meeting him was one of the catalysts in becoming a photographer myself. For me its not about the work that inspires me, its the person behind the camera and his/hers look at things.
Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?
Well… neither. I shoot with an amazing Fujifilm setup – my Fujifilm X-T2 is always paired with Fujinon 56mm 1.2 – well at least 95% at the time.
What is one piece of advice you would like to offer new photographer looking to start their own business?
Dont think that you can do all types of photography, find your thing and stick with it. Trust yourself and your pictures and be authentic when it comes to customer service

I really like it and Mode love when people with passion for photography tries to inspire the whole community
