Interview: Photographer Lk fotoartistica (Greece)

Tell us something about yourself

I'm a photographer based in Greece using the name LK fotoartistica and I shoot mostly fashion reportage and advertising work.

How and when did you get into photography?

Growing up, I watched my father work as a photographer and admired him. I had a childhood full of pretty images and memories and that was my stimulus for getting into photography. It started as a hobby at first, but eventually it turned into a full time job and I'm really happy about that.

What does photography mean to you?

I don’t need to say much, photography means moments, search and discovering harmony and balance.

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.

I don't have a particular style. I like shooting portraits. I like the human element in general. I find it very interesting that it is a subject with which you can communicate and interact.

Where do you get inspiration from?

Everything around me inspires me really. Life itself is an inspiration; my friends, music, art, traveling, situations I'm going through daily, it all has a place in my frames! I am thankful for all that.

Think you in advance what you want in the picture?

Of course! You must always have a plan. Especially when it's a professional photo-shoot, nothing must be left to chance. Lots of times, unexpected things can happen on the shoot and you must be ready to cope with it. That takes skill, preparation and alertness.

Studio, on location or both?

Totally different stuff. Studio is easier in theory, because it's more controlled and you feel safer, to put it in one way. In an external shoot you 're dealing with possible bad weather, finding the right spot, carrying your equipment. On the other hand it's always a different background, a fresh subject, a new adventure and I love that!

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?

I'm pleased to say that I'm one of those who have turned their hobby into a profession!

What has been your most memorable session and why?

I'll never forget the first time I took part in the photo team covering the Greek Fashion Week. It was such a phantasmagorical event. It impressed me very much and I have participated in that ever since. Every year, I'm looking forward to the next!

What has been the biggest source of inspiration in your work?

You can draw inspiration from all sorts of things as long as you 're open to what goes on around you and of course you need to keep up with new trends and happenings.

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?

Canon ,Canon and Canon again !! My favorite lens I would say is 50mm.

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business ?

Be brave, have faith in yourself and your work, but most of all, be patient.

What do you think of our new magazine?

Its fresh and i love it !
