Tell us something about yourself
My name is Peter and I live in a medium sized town in Sweden called Västerås. Daytime I work in a big storage for a grocery store and I have my photography as a hobby. I am both lazy and not...sometimes I like to just lay in my couch and watch a movie and other times I love to take long walks. If I may say it my self I am a king in the kitchen! :-) I used to work in the restaurant business before. More than once I have thought that I should combine the two, but I never seem to get there

How and when did you get into photography?
The whole thing started by coincidence when I went to ”folk high school” in Dalarna about 18 years ago. At that school there was a photo class and I got to know a few people in that class. They lend me an analog camera and I also got to follow them to their dark room were they developed their photos.
A few years later I bought my first digital system camera, and I have gotten a better one several times.I want to keep me up to date when it comes to tha camera technology.
In the beginning it was mostly nature/close up/animals. About 9 years ago a friend asked me if I could help her and her friend by taking photos of their clothes they had made. That is when I got in to take model photos.
So now, 9 years later I am still taking mostly model photos….but it happens now and then that I take a ” photography walk” and capture Swedens beautiful nature.

What does photography mean to you?
Photography is art for me, were there is no right or wrong. Everyone have their own opinion.
Everyone thinks different, and take pictures in different ways.
Some edit their pictures for hours while others doesn´t edit at all.
For me, a picture isn´t done just because I took it. I want to put my own personal touch on it. I don´t spend a whole lot of time editing my photos, between 5-20 minutes per photo.
It is often the colours and the tone I experiment whit.

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.
I have the  last year been leaning a bit more to the darker style. Mood/dark feeling. ..I have tryed to do gothic/ farytale style and I would like to do more of that. That is a genre that appeals to me when I also listen a lot to that kind of music . There are also a lot of portrait whit emotions were I let the model move around, something should be happening in the picture so it doesn't get so inpersonal and "correct".
Like wind in the hair. Sometimes when on location I use smoke cartridges.

Where do you get inspiration from?
It is a tough question. I don' t have any photographer that I look up to, but I know of some really good ones that I follow online. I get my inspiration from " little of this and that". Like other photographers photos. When I take a walk in the forrest I can come up with ideas on how I want to take a certain photo. I can get ideas when I'm just laying home infront of a movie. It is a little like my cooking. I see a recipe that I find interesting, but I change it to make it fit me better.

Think you in advance what you want in the picture?
I often have an idea before the photoshoot, and during the actual shoot there are always room for spontaneity. So it is both planed and not so much planed. But I prefer the spontaneity, it is easier to capture the moment that is "there" right then. I don´t tell the modell what to do a lot, I want her/him to feel free to do what feels right.

Studio, on location or both?
on locaton, in the woods or by the water.  There is a lot more freedom to take the pictures outdoors. It is also easier for the model because she/he has a surrounding to work along with. I prefer to shoot with natural lights. Unfortunately during this time of year it is to dark so I have to add some light, mostly existing light in my apartment. Sometimes I use the flash.

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?
It is a hobby for me. I am very happy and satisfied to have it as that because then I can decide when, how and what I want to take pictures of. My family thinks, and have done so for a long time, that I should make this my job, but for now I don´t want to do that...I am afraid I will loose the spark, the essens of photography. It will be something I have to do to be able to put food on my table

What has been your most memorable session and why?
Where a few years ago when I photographed a girl called Diza, who also plays the cello. And we had a session in the beech woods where she played on his cello. The environment and the music was so beautiful so it's probably one of the sessions I will always remember. Of course there are many more that I will long remember :)

What has been the biggest source of inspiration in your work?
I find most of the inspiration on Pinterest and Instagram :)

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?
Canon
And my favorite lens is sigma 35/1,4 ART and in second canon 85/1,8
Someday when I find so much money so I would like to have canon 85 / 1.2 haha

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business?
Then I do not have my own business so I have probably no advice to come up with unfortunately. More than believing in yourself and be prepared to fight hard :)
