Can you tell us a little about you?

I’m an American model, actor, and filmmaker. I am very interested in interdisciplinary arts and I am currently based in Paris, a city that I love, but I constantly feel the drive to move and to discover something new. I am most attracted to work that creates a unique universe, and I like to immerse myself fully in what I do. Whether I’m acting, modeling, or directing a short film, I like to become the character and experience what it’s like when their emotions run through me and entangle themselves with my own emotions and experiences.

 

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?

I wish I were a bit more organized. I have a lot of amazing projects I’m currently working on, but sometimes I feel it’s difficult to manage all of them. I also want to feel confident to delve into the darkest and saddest parts of myself, because that’s where I feel the most beautiful and powerful art comes from. I’ve also always wanted to be a bit taller.

 

How did you start modeling?

I didn’t start modeling until I was about 20, and I was signed by an agency a year or so after that. It wasn’t something I thought I could do until after I started college, and I’m glad I started, because it has opened some new and intriguing doors for me. My mother was also a model and visual artist when she was my age, and I think that’s part of what inspired me.

 

What do you think of the work as a model?

It’s a great way to meet people and to understand yourself through someone else’s perspective. It actually helps with acting a lot, because it trains you to be expressive and to create a mood with your body, and to work with a camera and a lot of creative people in the room. It’s a competitive and sometimes dark industry, but I’ve been able to be selective with the projects I pick up and have had a really good experience with the artists I’ve worked with so far.

 

What is your beauty regimen?

I’m quite pale so I try to stay out of the sun and take care of my skin. I’ve also been living with vegans, which I actually think helps me both look and feel a lot healthier, although I do enjoy the occasional cheeseburger. On a day to day basis, I like to wear makeup and clothes that I feel express my current mood and energy.

 

What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others?

I’ve always had an extreme, almost violent, amount of passion inside myself which I feel is finally beginning to come out. I am passionate about what I do and I never stop moving and coming up with ideas for short films and projects I want to work on. In acting and modeling, I love to play dark, gender-bending, and sometimes non-human characters that really challenge what I do with my body and how I use my voice and my energy. I’ve also been told that I have unique and well defined facial features, like high cheek-bones, an interesting profile, and a strong jawline. I am soft and strong at the same time, I use femininity and vulnerability as a source of power and force.

 

What are your plans for the future?

I want to continue what I’ve been doing and push it further. I’ve been directing and acting in short films for the past several months, and I plan to continue to do that along with modeling and to collaborate with artists who I consider talented, passionate, and boundary-pushing.

 

What are some of your favorite experiences so far?

I modeled for a few independent magazine photographers this summer in London, where I was also studying Shakespeare at RADA. London is an incredibly fast-paced and vibrant city, and it challenged me to really go after what I like and want the most - to act in my own films.

 

Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling?

When you start out, make sure you get signed with a good agency that is right for you and the clientele you hope to work with. I had two agencies back in the US, and one of them was great and helped me find interesting work, while the other didn’t help me out very much.

 

What do you think of the magazine?

I love both the aesthetic and the idea of the interview format. There are people from so many different backgrounds and from all over the world who work as models and photographers, and I think it’s important to highlight that. I also like that it looks like both an arts magazine and a fashion magazine.
