Model Mathilde Duriez (France)
Can you tell us a little about you?
My name is Mathilde Duriez. I'm a 25 years old education adviser in secondary school. I grew up in a small family. My parents are teachers and I have a 22 years old sister called Elise. We all leave in north in France in a town called Rouen. If I would give you three special details, it would be:
1 I'm a big fan of Star Wars
2 Each summer I am podium hostess in Tour de France cycling race on TV (for the green jersey)
3 I love travelling and each year I go at least three times in holidays somewhere in the World. Last travel was in Cyprus and next one ... I still don't know and I will take my flight ticket probably at the last minut.
If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?
If I could change something about myself, it would be my eyes. I always wanted to be brown hair with blue eyes. But, if I really could change something, I would be more relaxed. I'm a stressed person. I'm always anxious about everything ! Exams, plans, travels ... I must learn how to be more confident and how do not take care about what people think.
How did you start modeling?
I starting modeling doing Miss pageants and I was elected Miss Normandy in 2011. I moved in Italy for my studies in Milan and I integrated a model agency there. I started fashion shows, shootings, and when I came back to Paris next year I could'nt stop it. It was 5 years ago and I have not stopped yet.
What do you think of the work as a model?
I think modeling if a hard job. There is always pressure on you, because you're participating to an important event, because you need to wear 34 size clothes and you need to loose kilos in few days, because you are always in competition with girls during castings, because you are too much something or not enought something else... It's not a job you can do all your life so you need to enjoy it each time you have the possibility to do it.
Few years ago I was thinking to do this job, and only this job, but I needed to make a choice and I decided to work in education and to continue modeling during weekends or holidays.
What is your beauty regimen?
Actually I don't really have one. I'm eating whatever I want but I'm running at least 10 km two times by week in forest or in competition which allowes me to enjoy restaurants with friends when I want.
What are your plans for the future?
Concerning the future, I plan to have a family with my boyfriend, continue my education career, go in countries I still don't know but first of all, I plan to be happy.
What are some of your favorite experiences so far?
My favorite experience was probably when I represented my country in Seoul, in South Korea in 2014 at an international beauty pageant called World Miss University. I was elected Miss Europ University. I met wonderful people there and it was the first time I came to Asia. I was so happy to discover this culture, especially temples and food ! I will never forget this particular experience !
The second one would be a shooting in Italy with the french photographer Karl Emmanuel. He brought me to Venice in Italy for 5 days and we crossed all the city to make nice pictures together. I'm really thankful for that !
Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling?
Start it is not easy, you will need to involve yourself to succeed. You will fail many times before having contracts, but if you have the chance to be model, never forget who you are and where you come from.
What do you think of the magazine?
To be honest, I didn't know the magazine before this year. I think it's a really great idea to invite people to tell about there experience and to show pictures of different jobs like models, photographers or makeuup artisits... It's a great opportunity for everyone and I really thank you for this article !
