Tell us something about yourself.
I’m from Stockholm. I started doing portraits in the autumn of 2010 when I got my first studio. Prior to that I did a lot of musicphotography. I was signed to the french agency Dalle. I am published in the book Raw Beauties (Galerie Vevais Editions). Two years ago I started travelling in Europe so I could shoot with the best models. And today the main part of my sessions is done abroad, mostly in Paris or Rome. I also shoot analog, large format (5x4 and 8x10) and Polaroid.

How and when did you get into photography?
I was fascinated by cameras from an early age. I used to borrow my fathers camera all the time.

What does photography mean to you?
For me it’s very important to have an outlet for my creativity. Before photography took over my life I used to record my own music. I play several instruments. So I have always done something creative. I also used to work as a graphic designer.

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.
Romantic, elegant portraits. Always black and white.

Where do you get inspiration from?
Books. I have a large collection of photobooks. It’s also very inspiring to meet the models and try to create something interesting together.

Think you in advance what you want in the picture?
I never prepare in advance. I just shoot when I see something that I like.

Studio, on location or both?

I only work in the studio.

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?
A hobbyist.

What has been your most memorable session and why?
I love every session. I feel so blessed to have met so many beautiful and interesting people. But it’s always nice when you finally have the chance to shoot a model that you have been wanting to shoot for a long time.

What has been the biggest source of inspiration in your work?
The great masters: Avedon, Penn and Roversi, Lindbergh.

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?
I shoot Nikon but I have also used Canon. I don’t think there is much difference. It’s me that takes the picture, not the camera.
Lens: it used to be 85mm/1.4 but now it is my 50mm/1.4.

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business?
Buy books not gear.
